Twins

Every time Josh wears strips, it reminds me of Pugsley from the Addams Family!

Spring Break

Spring Break is over and our week was crazy. I decided to take the kids to California last Monday to stay with grandparents for the week. I have come to the conclusion that I hate the drive to California and am going to invest in my own plane. With the kids the normal 5 hour drive becomes about 6.5 and it's just a long time for my kids to sit in a seat.

The weather in California was beautiful and we took quite a few trips to the park on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday evening a bunch of my family came for dinner and it was a mad house! 2 grandparents, 3 uncles, 2 aunts, 9 cousins, 1 dad, the 3 of us, and that's just the family that made it over. Josh was totally overwhelmed and went down to bed screaming for the first time ever. On Thursday we headed to the beach and luckily I brought sweaters, it was chilly. The temp. dropped 10 degrees on the beach and it was windy. Emma loved looking for shells and brought a collection back to show Eric. Josh loved the feel of the sand and kept trying to eat it, silly boy will eat anything. Tht evening my aunt showed up and another cousin made it over and we had fun playing brain teaser games after the kids were in bed.

By Friday, I was exhausted and the kids were too so we packed up and headed home. We made it back around 4:30 and Emma and Josh were both in bed before 6:45pm. I was in bed by 10 and thankfully Eric was sweet enough to let me sleep in until about 9:30 the next morning! I love seeing my family back in California especially my grandparents but I need about 6 months to recover from this trip until the next go round!

Sadly took no pictures of our trip. I am so used to Eric having his camera that I forgot to take my camera and put it in the diaper bag every time we went somewhere. Poor Josh has no pictures of his first time at the beach, what a bad mommy!

Where have you been all my life?

About 2 weeks ago I stopped by the new buybuy Baby in the Chandler Mall area. The place is enormous and can best be described as Babies R Us on crack! I had no idea what I wanted when I went in but needed to exchange a toy Josh had gotten for his birthday that we already owned. After walking around for a good hour I still had no idea what to get, there was just too much there and my brain was on overload. Finally I decided on a bib that one of my friends owned, she raves about hers and I thought maybe I would like it to.

Not only do I like this bib, I love it! For some reason, my children like to do things independently (wonder where they get that from) and refuse to be fed once they figure out they can do it themselves. Emma was messy but Josh is a disaster. He is clever enough to pull a cotton bib off half way through eating and his meals usually end up all over the front of him. Because its been too chilly to pull his shirt off of him while eating, more shirts than I can count have been lost to stains. Not anymore! Since buying this bib, no shirt or pair of pants have been stained and my bottle of Shout is finally getting the rest it deserves. I love that the bib has a pocket and that food falls right in it. It is hilarious to me that Josh has figured this out too and now when there is nothing left on his tray, he will stick his fingers in the pocket and pick out all of the food that has fallen in and eat it. Another great thing about the bib is it's plastic and all I do is wash it off after eating, no more washing 20-30 bibs a week. Have I mentioned that I love this thing? Every mom I know should have one and it is my new favorite gift for new moms and maybe some already moms.

Oh how the years go by

Six years ago today I married a wonderful man. I am not sure where the last six years have gone but here we are. We aren't the people or couple I idealized us to be six years ago and that's okay. It's amazing how you have your whole future planned before you get married and what you don't realize, is that's not how life works. I am glad life doesn't always work the way you plan it because what it has given me is two beautiful children, a nice home in a good neighborhood, a job that allows me to be home with my children more, and a husband who has become a stronger man in so many ways over the years. I am grateful everyday for the life I have and I am thankful to Eric for being my partner in creating this life. I can only imagine what the next six years will bring and I am sure I will get it wrong so I will just leave it to God! Happy anniversary Eric, I love you.

Mondays

Three school years ago I changed jobs and went from teaching 4th grade students to teaching visually impaired preschoolers. When I took the preschool job my hours went from full time and then some to a more part time schedule and I now have every Monday off. I love my Mondays off with the kids! We go to the mall play land, to Barnes and Noble for story time, to the park, grocery shopping, to eat lunch with Eric at his work, to the zoo, really anything I can think of.

Today we met my dad for lunch at Chipotle for his birthday and then went over to the mall play land. Now that Josh is pulling himself up to a stand and cruising around on things he enjoyed playing more than ever before. Emma quickly made friends with a few other little girls and played tag, even though in this version of tag they all stood around talking to each other but she assured me a number of times they were in fact playing tag.

After seeing this,

I decided it was time for naps. When the kids woke up we went outside and Emma played across the street with neighbor friends and Josh crawled around on the driveway trying to sneak rocks into his mouth (his new favorite food). Eric came home a bit later and we ended the day by having dinner together and letting the kids play in the bathtub. It was a great day and I can't wait until next Monday.
